MKII | 3-Way Powered Speaker

2021

The MKII is a powered 3-way speaker system designed with simplicity, presence and glorious sound as the focus. The system needed to be self-contained and portable so that anyone could set it up and use it - even if they have no experience with pro audio.

Inside each cabinet is an active crossover, splitting the input into the high, mid and low frequency bands that are allocated to the tweeter, mid and low frequency drivers respectively. Each of these are driven by a dedicated Class D power amp, totaling 800W of available power in each cabinet.

The system is powered by a Meanwell SE-1000 located inside the cabinet. It accepts AC mains voltage and conditions it to 24VDC. These had been modified with a fan controller board so that the cooling system only activates the fan when the temperature of the heatsink increases to 55℃ or above. This was required as, during low power states, the internal fan is louder than the output audio.
